The gameplay of Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia follows certain conventions and mechanics.

Gameplay Mechanics[ | ]

Bravery[ | ]

Bravery is the way Dissidia marks the power of an attack. Bravery is generated by executing Brave Attacks. Brave attacks damage other user's Brave, and the lost Brave is then trasferred to the attacker.

When an HP Attack lands, Bravery will reset and rise up to the base amount. During this recharge time, every attack deals Critical Damage.

Break Mode[ | ]

If a character's Bravery hits 0, the attacker who broke the Bravery enters Break Mode, and gets the total Brave Points from the broken character's Stage Bravery as a bonus. The broken character's attacks deal 0 damage during this time, but breaking can be removed by launching an HP Attack.

HP[ | ]

HP Attacks are the only attacks that do direct HP damage, so in theory, Brave attacks can go on forever. That being said, HP Attack damage is proportionate to the attacker's Bravery, making it very much a game of cat and mouse.
